Tips on Buying Baby’s First Bed by Nannie Annie

Baby Nursery Decoration

Choosing you baby’s bed is probably the most important decision you will need to make when you begin the process of designing your baby’s nursery decoration.  Here are a few tips that will help you make the right decision first time around.

Do your research thoroughly.  No one has the time these days to go round from store to store looking for the perfect baby bed, especially if you’re pregnant.  Using the internet can be extremely helpful in tracking down the latest nursery decoration styles, baby nursery furniture, baby nursery bedding and of course the best prices. And when you’ve made your choices you can buy on line or at the high street store.

When you have made your selection, find a high street store that stocks the cot you’ve chosen, visit the store and check it out – look at the quality of the cot – is it strong and well made, do you like the design?

Do both sides of the cot bars lower or are they static?  Are you able to adjust the base of the cot? For a new baby the base of the cot can be set higher and will make it easier for you to lift out your baby comfortably, and then as baby grows you can lower the base.

Do the bars on the cot meet safety standards of 2 3/8” apart?  Are the cot rails at least 9 inches from the mattress when lowered and 26 inches above the mattress when completely raised?  Remember too, that buying a cot that converts into a junior bed will save you the expense of buying a new bed for your toddler later on.

You can test the stability of a cot by giving it a good shake – does it feel strong and stable?  Will a standard cot mattress fit nice and snug?  Choose the best mattress you can afford as your baby will spend a lot of time in there; a comfortable mattress makes for a happy baby and happy parents!

Check out delivery times for in store or the internet store, and make sure that your furniture will be delivered and assembled in good time.

Enjoy and happy shopping!
